Dutch Demography Day 2019

The Netherlands Demographic Society (NVD), in collaboration with the Italian Association for Population Studies (AISP) invites you to join the 12th edition of the Dutch Demography Day on Wednesday 20 November 2019, in the Academy Building of Utrecht University (Domplein). At the Dutch Demography Day the most recent findings in the broad and interdisciplinary field of population studies will be presented. The scientific program comprises a Keynote Address and several rounds of English language parallel sessions, as well as a poster session.


Call for Abstracts

Abstracts from a wide variety of disciplines including sociology, economy, health, history and planning are invited. Abstracts (300 words) can be submitted until Friday 20 September 2019 at Authors will be informed early October whether their abstract has been accepted for presentation in one of the parallel sessions or in the poster session. Authors who wish to only present and pitch a poster can indicate this preference when submitting their abstract.


Session proposals

At DDD 2019 other formats than sessions, such as workshops, panel discussions and the like are invited. Write us ( if you have a proposal (300 words) for a 75-minute time slot.


Your registration and payment is due by 1 November 2019 at the latest on (see bottom of this page).

Conference fees:

- NVD members: €60

- Non-members: €90

- New NVD members*: €95

- Bachelor & Master students** : €25

* Registration at DDD 2019 and NVD membership until 01-01-2021 (the member is responsible for withdrawing the subscription)

NIDI-NVD Master Thesis Award 2019

This Award honors the best master thesis in population studies in the Netherlands or Italy, with a certificate and a €500 prize. It is jointly sponsored by the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) and the Netherlands Demographic Society. NVD Poster Award 2019

This Award is for the best poster presented at the Dutch Demography Day 2019. Poster authors will have 2 minutes to pitch their work during the Plenary Session. For the rules of play for this competition click here or go to the end of this page for downloads. The Poster Award is sponsored by the Netherlands Demographic Society (NVD) and includes a certificate and a € 100 prize. Posters will be judged during the Dutch Demography Day.


NVD Population Video Award

A contest is organized by the NVD to raise population awareness and engage high school students in population issues. At the Dutch Demography Day 2019, the three best videos will be awarded and the prize-winning video will be presented. High-school students are challenged to share their views on key demographic issues. Click here for more information.
